Classes

Flexible Options

Summer Term offers something for everyone with classes across the curriculum: pre-requisite classes, core classes, electives, and GEs. With hundreds of options across schools and departments, Summer Term meets students where they are: on campus, online, or traveling the globe. You can also study at USC’s Capital Campus in Washington, DC.

Flexible Modalities

Summer Term classes will be offered in three modalities: On Campus; Online; and the new “Summer Flex.” Many summer classes also feature hands-on experiential learning. See what professors are saying about their classes.

On Campus

Classes taught in-person on USC’s campuses in Los Angeles. On campus classes have a meeting location and meeting time listed in WebReg and the Schedule of Classes.

Many in-person summer classes take the opportunity to use innovative teaching techniques. See what Professor Rita Barakat is saying about her class BISC 220Lg: Cell Biology and Physiology on campus this summer.

Online

Classes taught synchronously online. Online classes have their location set as ONLINE in WebReg and the Schedule of Classes and include a scheduled meeting time.

See what Professor Davina Wolter of the Iovine and Young Academy is saying about her online class for Summer 26, ACAD 324g: The Practice of Design.

Summer Flex

Summer Flex classes are online classes taught mostly asynchronously, with some synchronous meetings. Designed to maximize flexibility and to fit around other summer activities, Summer Flex classes are listed as ASYNC in WebReg and the Schedule of Classes, with meeting times listed as TBA.

Experiential Learning

Putting thought into action, experiential learning classes integrate hands-on experiences into the curriculum. These classes have a meeting location and scheduled meeting times listed in WebReg and the Schedule of Classes. Check the posted syllabi for more details on experiential content.
